Regular let outs are crucial for your dog's well-being. They provide opportunities for exercise, socialization, and bathroom breaks. Puppies and older dogs especially, need regular breaks to relieve themselves.

Why Are Let Outs Important?

  • Physical Health: Regular exercise helps maintain a healthy weight and prevents obesity. Dogs need to burn off energy to stay calm and happy at home.

  • Mental Stimulation: Letting your dog explore the outdoors stimulates their mind. New sights, sounds, and smells keep them engaged and curious.

  • Socialization: Meeting up with their new best pal (me!) for a midday cuddle and fuss is a great way of adding people into your dogs life during the working day.

How Often Should You Let A Puppy Out?

The frequency of let outs depends on your puppy's age and breed. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Under 3 months: Every 1-2 hours.

  • 3-6 months: Every 2-4 hours.

  • 6 months and older: Every 4-6 hours.

Older dogs are different and you will understand your own dog and what they require in terms of toileting and comfort breaks.

Engaging Activities During Let Outs

Let outs are not just for bathroom breaks. They can also be a time for fun and bonding. Here are some engaging activities I try and get up to during let outs.

Fetch

Playing fetch is a great way to exercise your dog.

Hide and Seek

This game stimulates your dog's mind. I hide somewhere in your yard or home and call them. Rewards are given if successful!!

Obstacle Course/Paddling Pool

I set up a simple obstacle course using household items, cones, boxes, or even garden furniture for your dog to navigate. Paddling pools are great for the warmer days!

Building a Strong Bond with Your Dog

Its not just toileting needs, playtime and nutrition that I focus on during a let out. Spending time just relaxing together, cuddling or simply sitting in the yard can enhance our connection and give the dog much needed attention when owners are away for the day.

I offer 15 or 30 minute let outs, which are priced at £6 and £10. Please get in touch if you require this service.
